Here is the approach

Let the whole expression be x
We can observe that 6 is divided by x too, as the division process is endless, so we have got
x=1+\(\frac{6}{x}\)
\(x^2\)-x-6=0
(x-3)(x+2)=0
x=3; x=-2

LevanKhukhunashvili I understand your working out but how can we observe that 6 is divided by x.

I made mine y=1+ (6/x) . Obviously that is wrong however I don't understand why you made yours x equals

Please find the similarity between first and the circled part of the second expressions
If the first expression is x
Then the circled part on the second expression must be x as well

Hope it's clear

This is equivalent to \(x = 1 + \frac{6}{x}\) or \(x^2 = x + 6.\)

Rearranging yields \(x^2 - x + 6 = 0\) or \((x+2)(x-3)=0.\)

So, \(x = -2\) or \(x = 3\).

Since \(x\) is a positive number, \(x = 3\).

Therefore, the answer is C
Answer: C
