(1) – (x + y) = x - y
(2) x + y = 2

– (x + y) = x - y
-x-y=x-y
-x=x
-2x=0
x=0;
Sufficient.

2. x+y=2
x=2-y.
y unknown. x can't be found.
Not sufficient.

Ans: "A"

-x-y = x-y => x=0

One might think , huh two unknowns one equation , how are we gonna find value of x. On calculation ,we can see x =0.

Sufficient

2. y is needed to solve this one.
Not sufficient.


Hence the answer is A.

A is the correct answer. Here's why:

(1) -(x+y) = x-y
= -x-y = x-y
= -x = x
= 2x = 0 --> x= 0

SUFFICIENT

(2) x+y = 2

NOT SUFFICIENT
