(1) (6x−3)^2=0
(2) x^2−0.25=0

St 1: Since LHS and RHS are non-negative, we can take a square root and get

6x-3=0 or x=1/2 so value of x-0.5= 0

Option B,C and E ruled out

St 2 says$$x^{2}-0.25=0$$

or (x-1/2)(x+1/2)=0 now either x=1/2 or x=-1/2

So we can have 2 values of the expression x-0.5. The values are -1 or 0

St 1 is the answer. Option A

What is the value of (x - 0.5)?

(1) (6x - 3)^2 = 0 --> 6x - 3 =0 --> x = 1/2. Sufficient.

(2) x^2 - 0.25 = 0 --> x^2 = 0.25 --> x = 0.5 or x = -0.5. Not sufficient.
