S2 x - y = 0

Statement 1 says y = x so the value of expression is zero.

Statement 2 also says y = x so the value of expression is zero.

1. Sufficient

x+y = 2x
=> y =x

=> x2 -y2 =0

2. Sufficient.

x -y =0
=> x =y
=> x2-y2 =0

Answer is D.

x^2 - y^2 = (x + y)(x - y)

(1) gives only x+y = 2x, then y = x and x - y = 0, which makes the value of entire expression 0. Sufficient.

(2) says x - y = 0, which makes the value of entire expression 0. Sufficient.

so answer - D
