What is the value of y?

(1) |x+9|=y. y is equal to the absolute value of some numbers, which implies that y must be more than or equal to 0 ($$y\geq{0}$$). That's the only thing we can deduce from this statement. Not sufficient.

(2) y^2=9 --> y = 3 or y = -3. Not sufficient.

(1)+(2) Since from (1) $$y\geq{0}$$, then from (2) y = 3. Sufficient.

Hope it's clear.
