Re: What is the variance of set X, which contains only consecutive even in [#permalink]
2

Really one of the good questions from statistics.

Since we know that set contains consecutive even integers.we require only no of terms to determine the standard deviation or variemce.(write it down as a standard rule, both for even and odd numbers.)

1) N = 10
Bingo!!
SUFFICIENT.

2)range given is 18.
So irrespective of the first term, let it be 2 or 22 or 998, the last will always be +18.
And the number of terms will always be same in each case
i.e 10..(standard rule both for even and odd)

SUFFICIENT .

D is the answer
