OK, Clint style:
The Good: 730 on the GMAT, 42/96% V 48/86% Q, 6.0 AWA. 23 years on the resume, including eighteen in management positions. Bachelors from Baylor in 1983.
The Bad: 2.06 undergrad GPA, and the B.A. was in English.
The Ugly, or at least not easy: Married, with two girls, one in Kindergarten and one in College. Live in Houston Texas, moving would be difficult.
Three main fields of work. Twelve years operations management experience in Retail, five years work in Healthcare Provider Network, six years management in Accounts Receivable.
With this profile, what sort of school should I apply to? I have no doubt I can get into U-Houston, Houston Baptist, Texas A&M, but would I have a shot at Rice or UT's Houston MBA?
What is a realistic goal?
Thanks.
Drummond,
All of the schools you listed seem doable to me with the possible exception of Texas Houston. That one might be a longshot, but probably worth trying. Your GMAT and the time since your college will diminish the importance of your GPA. Much more critical for you as an
older applicant will be having a seamless, compelling explanation for why you need an MBA at this point in your career and why in addition an executive MBA is not desirable. Your goals statement will be important in your case. The fact that you are a parent is a non-issue in terms of your admission.
Good luck!
