Hi Experts,

I want to know what should be my target score to get into top 20 B schools.
I am a Computer Engineer from India and will have around 4 years experience by the time I will join the school.

Thanks

Hello nkhl.goyal,

Business schools evaluate your profile holistically and your chances depend on a range of other factors such as academic background, career progression, and extra-curricular activities.

While no GMAT score will guarantee an admit, considering you belong to an over-represented pool of Indian applicants from an IT background, we suggest that you look upwards of 730; the higher the score, the better it will be.

Should you feel the need for a free profile evaluation, please reach out to us with more details.

Thanks.

Hey nkhl,

Generally for your demographic (all things being equal) a minimum score of 720 will be necessary to be competitive. Most scores for engineers from India will be in the 730-770 range, however.

That being said, each candidate brings different things to the table so if you have an exceptionally strong story or compelling extracurriculars, a lower GMAT score can be mitigated. Remember, schools look at candidates holistically and not simply at one data point!
