Hey everyone,
I am considering using an admissions consultant when applying to b-school this year and I have an initial consultation in a few days. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should ask him? The consultation is an hour long and I want to maximize the what I get out of it. Thanks!

Since you're seeking the help of an admissions consultant, I would think they would have a list of question for you and a game plan on how to approach the coming application season.

However, if you want to make sure all your bases are covered, I would be most concerned with school selection at this point. Find out what schools you are competitive for and what schools will best fit your needs. That way you can draw up a list and start doing campus visits.

Some questions I would recommend:
-How do you like to work?
-What do you expect from me?
-What should I expect from you?
-What is the expected turn around time on documents?
-How much time will we spend together each week?

All great questions... just to chime in, I would also ask them to pinpoint any strengths and weaknesses they have found in your profile (as you should send them your CV for review) and how to address them. Also let them know what your target schools are and they can help your distinguish which ones are 'reach' schools - always good to have a mix of higher and lower reach schools.
It really comes down to fit and connection and if you feel they are encouraging vs discouraging. You want them to be on your side!

Happy searching.
