Thanks for the link .. The school I am waitlisted at is my first choice. I had the interview a week back.Do u think it's a ding(I have been waitlisted
a month before the decision deadline). My GMAT and GPA are close to the school requirements. I don't see myself getting promoted by next month.
I don't know how to proceed further. Please advise. [ P.S.: The school yield is low(48%).]

To be frank, I have no idea whether being waitlisted now will turn out to be a a ding. But it's better than a ding right now! Being close to requirements have got you so far so maybe improving your GMAT score will be the boost your application needs (bear in mind I have no idea what your current score is).

If the yield is low, that gives you a fighting chance because as they go through the rounds, slots will open up.

Thanks, guys - those links are great resources.

Quick question, though. This post encourages submitting another letter of recommendation: http://gmatclub.com/blog/2012/01/how-to ... situation/

How would one go about that? Would you submit your recommender's letter on his or her behalf along with your "update"? Or would your recommender send an email directly to the adcom, who would then know to include it in your application?

I was on five waitlists last year, so I have a little bit of experience with waitlists, you might say.

First, check with the schools whether they accept additional letters of recommendation. For example, last year among my schools, Kellogg did not, but Sloan did. I assume the policy is the same this year, but you should verify.

In terms of how to submit, the schools provide an email address where all waitlist materials should be sent. For Sloan last year, I had my recommender send his letter directly to the Sloan waitlist email address, and his recommendation was acknowledged and confirmed as added to my file by a Sloan Admissions officer.

Thanks - I'll have my recommender do the same. I was curious as to how such emails were handled. I'm glad to hear that yours was easily acknowledged and added to your file.

It must not have been easy being on five waitlists last year. I certainly hope your luck changes this year!
