ST(1) Eben contributed 60 percent of the amount. So, Emily contributed 40% but of what? ...insufficient.

ST(2) Emily contributed \$20,000. Okay, but what about Eben? ... insufficient

Combining 1 & 2, we can write and solve => 40% * Total = 20,000

Thus, sufficient.

(1) Eben contributed 60 percent of the amount.

let the total be T
T = Eb +Em
T= 0.6T + Em

insufficient

(2) Emily contributed \$20,000
Eb = ?

using both
0.4T = 20,000
this will give us T followed by Eb = 30,000
Sufficient
