A.and cohesion, by which each molecule of water is attracted to those above it

B.and cohesion, for which each molecule of water is attracted to what is above it

C.to the cohesion that attracts each molecule of water to those above it

D.with cohesion, by which each molecule of water is attracted to those above it

what is the difference between A and D. Could you please help me clarify how to use "And" and "With"?

(3)by which each molecule of water is attracted to the inner walls of tubes called xylem,

(4) by which each molecule of water is attracted to those above it.

the correct idiom contrast X to/with Y
other idiom: compare X to/with Y

A.and cohesion, by which each molecule of water is attracted to those above it
comparison error.

B.and cohesion, for which each molecule of water is attracted to what is above it
comparison error

C.to the cohesion that attracts each molecule of water to those above it
parallel error & meaning error. now the sentence states that cohesion attracts molecules. this is incorrect.

D.with cohesion, by which each molecule of water is attracted to those above it
correct comparison idiom, parallel structure.

E.with cohesion, for which each molecule of water is attracted to those above it
for which - changes meaning
