when do you use binomial distribution vs pattern reorganization? Im having a hard time figuring out when to use what method


Can someone help me figure this out??

For example:

If you divide 7^131 by 5, which remainder do you get?


vs


What is the remainder when (3^84)/26



Please help me differentiate which method to use when
