I've taken the gmat prep cat, princeton review, kaplan, arco cats. I've studied a ton, but I seem to hit a wall. My math scores range from 45-50 and Verbal 25-30. So basically 580-620 on everything. I use the Manhattan verbal formulas for the Verbal part. I'm not sure how I can get better. The questions I get wrong in verbal are nothing I can really study and prepare for. Its just a lack of being smart in reading. Anything I can do?

native speaker. 24 year old with a 17 year old reading level and 30 year old math ability :-D

golfpro20050, I'm afraid I can give you only some general tips, but no specific solution
1) Plz refer to the stickys on each of the forums, for useful tips on how to improve on each of the question types. I would suggest to go through some of the posts of guys who have done well in their second attempt after a not so good first attempt.
2) Practice. Practice as much as you can. Make sure you analyze all your mistakes closely. Keep a log of all your errors and review them frequently. Make sure you are able to eliminate choices before picking the correct one. The real GMAT has the choices structured in such a way that you would definitely be able to eliminate choices based on some rule.
3) Make sure you have all the good standard material to refer and practice from.

First, I'd take a break from studying.

Second, definitely keep an error log so you know what you're doing wrong. That will greatly help you scale the wall! ;-)

Third, consider a prep course. Having an instructor work with you will help!

I had the exact same problem!

But on the day of the test, I aced verbal (37).

A good concentration will help a lot in the verbal section, also, practice practice and practice a little bit more.
