Hi there,
Posting to see if it's worthwhile for me to retake the GMAT. I am happy with my overall score, but am concerned the Q45 will dent my chances. I will only retake if I can get a 760 or above, I think I can fairly easily gain 2+ points in verbal, but it will take at least 100 more hours to get to a 48-49 in quant. I am from an MBB firm and plan to apply to Stanford, Booth, Harvard, Yale, and Kellogg, among others. Most people at work don't think it's worthwhile to retake it, suggesting that my work background proves my analytical skills and that once you pass the 730 bar colleges don't seem to differentiate based on that. I'm not interested in taking the risk so thought I'd give it a shot and see if you had any inside perspective.
Background:
Demographics: White female, 25 at matriculation
Academic history: 3.9 GPA at a top 15 US undergrad institution, major in Philosophy
Work history: Working at MBB, will take 6 months off company soon to extern at a social impact organization
Leadership: office leadership and pro-bono cases done in my free time. I don't think I have a super compelling community-service/leadership story
Thanks for your thoughts
,
Amanda
