Re: Which Apple iPhone Apps Do You Use? [#permalink]
I have a Touch, but have not used it for Apps. However, since Skype put out an App last week, i plan on downloading it.

Apparently you can use a Touch (or iPhone) with the Skype app to make free calls, provided you are near an open free Wi-Fi spot.

I have been waiting for this capability for over a year.......

I was thinking of using the app that guides you back to the point you started your journey...like your car in a big parking lot or city..that looks useful.

The MRI one looks cool, but hopefully I will not have to use it.....

Facebook - I use this a lot
Urbanspoon - OK for new restaurants....sometimes gets annoying
WorldView - This app is pretty cool because you can view live captures from traffic/security cams all over the world. Each cam is updated to within 3-30 minutes of current time.

Games:

WordWarp
Labyrinth

Airshare

It allows one to put documents on iPhone/Touch and read PDF, Word, Excel etc etc.

I bought it thinking this will allow me to read documents and PDF directly on my Touch in the subway instead of doing cumbersome way of converting them to Kindle documents and read Kindle in the subway (for PDF, it's a nightmare)

However, this app keeps on crashing my Touch.

I wouldn't recommend this app.

Hmmm...that seems like a problem that will soon be fixed...

There is a new GMAT App from Veritas - it's free.
I believe they had a version before; new version released on 5/7/2009

Instapaper

This is by far the most useful iphone app I am currently using in bschool right now. I have no time to read web articles on my laptop like I used to. So I just click the "Read Later" button installed on my browser and this app takes care of the rest. It actually downloads the articles that you saved in text format. Therefore, you don't even have to connect to the web unless you want to sync to latest articles.

iPhone App to manage your MBA applications [#permalink]
Just in case anyone's interested. My friend (a current MBA at Duke) published an iPhone application to help with MBA apps. It helps you manage application progress and retrieves application and school info for you on the fly. Pretty neat app I wanted to share and there's a free Lite version.

I was going to download Air Sharing until I read nink's review and then found similar reviews on the app store. I ended up downloading GoodReader (cost $1.00) and it allows you to view PDF, MS Office and a whole load of other docs. It allows for wireless file transfer to the iphone as well.

Quite useful for loading those GMAT notes or whatever you're studying/reading at the moment. So far I've found it quite good, it loads large documents well and the usability it good. Also just downloaded the VeritasPrep software (free) so will give it a go and let you know how it goes.

My LG chocolate went wacko on my right before the new year and likely to my benefit. I intend to move to Alaska and would have issues with Verizon so I opted to switch to AT&T and get an iphone. It's just say that I'm all smiles these days. I've downloaded my free MGMAT flashcards, MathliteMagic for hints and tips, GMAT Club apps of course, and Doodle. I even used Doodle last night to get a friend's insight on a sample geometry problem. I'm going to put my phone to work!

The apps I use

A) facebook
b) bloomberg - free and really great coverage of fin and political news
c) nytimes
d) clearadmit (paid) though I think I'll try applyaway
e) imdb and flickster ( both free)
( imdb gives information about almost any movie made anywhere , anytime - cast, reviews, plot, awards. Flixter is good to share with friends. Both can be used to see showtimes in your area etc)
f) Word Warp & Moxie
g) pandora - you realise the possibilities of the genome project and it's free
h) shazam
there are others that I downloaded but these take the most of time.

Edited Jan 28, 2009
The good ones that I missed above
i) Stanza - Free for Free Books (A lot of context, old classics and modern)
j) Kindle for iphone - Free
k) Audiobooks - free (if you want to hear books. the only problem it streams but doesn't download so you need a 3G or wifi for it work. But having said that, thanks to the good people for all the good content.

Just realized we did not have this mentioned, but the 3 GMAT Club apps developed by Walker are quite useful for the MBA purposes:

1. GMAT Club (Tests) App

Includes 111 GMAT Club questions, Resource section with most useful links and ability to select which questions to work on based on topic or question type.
More details: gmat-club-apple-app-for-ipod-iphone-81492.html

2. GMAT ToolKit
Includes GMAT timer, error log for OG 12 and other OG guides, GMAT Club Math Book project, list of Idioms (soon to be fully redone), RSS feeds with GMAT and MBA news, and other functionality.
More details: gmat-toolkit-iphone-ipod-application-82830.html

3. MBA ToolKit

Beautiful App! Designed to be a perfect (inexpensive too) tool for an MBA applicant. Includes a massive collection of RSS feeds to follow the latest news from top 30 schools (you pick which news you get to read/see), detailed information on schools with stats and did I tell you it was beautiful? As always, this is just the first release, and we'll continue upgrading and updating with new functionality based on your suggestions.
