Which of the following best completes the passage below?

Brand X, which currently markets luxury watches via billboards and advertisements in popular magazines, is considering saving money by advertising its newest line of luxury watches only in niche publications read by the wealthy. A recent study shows that most purchasers of Brand X’s luxury watches have only recently become wealthy, and purchase the watches because Brand X is highly coveted by those aspiring to wealth, who learn about Brand X watches via advertising. Therefore, Brand X should not implement its new advertising strategy because _________________.

a) most purchasers of Brand X’s luxury watches do not read magazines regularly

b) newly rich consumers will not buy the watches if the watches are not advertised to people who are not yet wealthy who will then hold the watches in high regard

c) the money saved by implementing the strategy will be outweighed by the reduction in revenue from the less expensive line of watches

d) consumers who have only recently become wealthy purchase luxury watches in order to impress those who have been wealthy for some time

e) consumers who are newly wealthy prefer to purchase products that are purchased regularly by the non-wealthy

a) most purchasers of Brand X’s luxury watches do not read magazines regularly : This might or might not be true – there is no information in the question stem to support or oppose this. However, even if it were to be true, while this can be a reason why Brand X should not implement its new advertising strategy, it is NOT a reason that FOLLOWS from the argument- Since the blank we are trying to fill is completing the statement beginning with therefore, the blank should fill it giving a reason which logically follows/ can be concluded from the argument given in the question stem.

c) the money saved by implementing the strategy will be outweighed by the reduction in revenue from the less expensive line of watches: completely out of scope- where does the question mention less expensive line of watches or share of revenues?
d) consumers who have only recently become wealthy purchase luxury watches in order to impress those who have been wealthy for some time : that is not stated in the argument, nor can it help fill the blank. Newly wealthy, it is said, buy these to purchased those aspiring to wealth. Anyway, no info is given by magazine reading behavior of those wealthy for some time. Incorrect option
e) consumers who are newly wealthy prefer to purchase products that are purchased regularly by the non-wealthy : But if that were true, it would imply that newly wealthy will NOT buy brand X as brand X is not purchased regularly by the non-wealthy. Inconsistent.

Its B Vs D.

D is a super trap. Since it seems to provide reason why the company should not advertise but it has no bearing on the sales of the watched and subsequently no bearing on the profits.

B has a bearing on the sales and hence on the profits of the company. So when the company stops advertising in popular magazines - the so called "fresh" rich will think that the popularity of the watch has declined and so called status symbol of the wealthy is no longer valid. hence no point wearing the watch before the non-wealthy who no longer consider it in high esteem.

this seems to weaken question if my brain not betray with me...
in A)author state that purchaser are know abt watch through magazine so seems to out o scope.
and also D author is not state any impression of that type of objective int he passage.
C) and E) out of scope

only left B that says that newly richer are buy it and magazine are not read by some other but only rich people so what would happened if people who are not rich yet.so for them some sort of advertising still required so only B can weaken.

so i m think i m not incorrect.

I do not understand why A is wrong. when most of the buyers do not read magazines why would you advertise in those media??

D is out because of "sometime"
A is out of scope because of "regularly"
C and E are out of scope
B is correct.
The study shows that the purchases are made because brand X is advertised to many people including rich and non-rich people. The plan is to make advertisements to rich people only.

We are completing the conclusion based on the premises. According available info in premises brand X will loose its customer if it follows the new plan so conclusion is not to follow plan because most of the customers are new and come to know by advertising only.
A gives new information which is not in the premises. We can not take this info in conclusion. For that matter there are other form of advertising such as v
Billboards.
