Which of the following is NOT a possible value of $$\frac{1}{4-X}$$

A -4
B 4/17
C 0
D 4
E 17/4

The fraction cannot be $$0$$ as numerator is $$1$$. for any number to be $$0$$ it has to be multiplied by $$0$$

Option C

Note if $$x=4$$, then the fraction will have an undefined value but it will not be $$0$$

$$\frac{1}{4-X}= 0$$

$$1= 0$$ Can not be possible.

Hello niks18 !

I have one question related to your explanation, maybe I am doing something wrong.

Could you please clarify to me if it is okay to solve "D" like the following?

$$\frac{1}{4-x}$$

$$\frac{1}{4-x}=4$$

$$1= 4(4-x)$$

$$1= (16 - 4x)$$

$$\frac{15}{4}=x$$

Kind regards!

Thank you niks18

Hi jfranciscocuencag

The question asks us to find which CANNOT be the value of the expression.

Note that the expression is a "Fraction" whose numerator is $$1$$, hence it will have "some value"

Obviously the fraction cannot be equal to $$0$$

What you are doing is simply finding the value of $$x$$ and for that value the fraction will yield a particular case. in your example the fraction will be equal to $$4$$ if $$x=\frac{15}{4}$$
You are not asked to find the value of x but asked to identify a value that is NOT possible for the expression.
