option 5 holds good......a circle can intersect in any of the combinations specified in the option

I think the answer is 4. I could come up with a figure with 5 intersection points.

It is E.

A triangle can intersect a circle in 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 points.

Remember point tangent to a circle is considered to intersect the circle in 1 point.
