solution is saying if y intercept is zero line passes through origin

My question is if y intercept is zero cannot be line parallel to y axis?

First, let's have the definition of 'Y-intercept': It represents a point on the XY-plane where a graph crosses the Y-axis. So, for a line if its Y-intercept is 2 , then the line passes straight through point (0, 2)[ point 2 on the y-axis]

A line parallel to the y-axis has rather no y-intercept, meaning it never crosses the Y-axis.

So, at least in this respect, 'a line has Y-intercept equal to 0' and 'a line has no y-intercept' are different.

y intercept of a line is the value of the y co-ordinate where the x co-ordinate is 0.
x = 10y
Put x = 0, you get y = 0. So the y intercept of this line is 0 (It has a value. Just that the value is 0). This means the line passes through origin since the point (0, 0) satisfies it.

A line parallel to y axis has an equation similar to x = 4, x = 8, x = -10 etc. Here the x co-ordinate cannot be 0 (since it is given as 4/8/-10). Hence there is no y intercept (which does not mean that y intercept is 0.)
