Tough one... They all seem wrong.

A and E are wrong, because homeowners can't have any equity, only homes can have equity. I don't like B either because it looks like a dangling modifier problem - it is not clear what/who is "they" depressed property values orinvestors + what is "their"? homeowners? they can't have equity; depressed property values? does not make sence at all. And C looks flawed, what's "their" depressed property values, homeowners, not clear. D same.

A

Here "they" refers to the subject of the modifier (property values)

A.
all have pronouns, so let's pick the answer with the least ambiguous pronoun reference.

B-"their" is very ambiguous. "in that" is wordy
C-"their"
D-"it" is a pronoun error
E-"it" is a pronoun error

"they" refers to depressed property values, through logical flow of sentence. And proper usage of "whose" to refer to homeowners removes any ambiguity at the end of the sentence.

It seems that the right answer is A.

Look at prior threads, this one for example

B is wrong, because we have an option A

B is more wordy and introduces uncertainty with the word can potentially........

IMO-E,

"depressed property values" requires It and not They.Hence option B & A are out. "For homeowners" as well its awkward.

Can someone please correct if i am missing something.

Answer is A. Because all pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents

OA is A.

Plural subject requires plural pronoun. So D & E out. B & C modification error. 'their' seems to be modifying homeowners instead of property values.
