After exactly an hour, he passes a second milestone with the same two digits written in reverse order. Exactly one more hour after that, he passed a third milestone with the same two digits reversed and separated by a zero. What is the sum of the two digits?

the speed is constant, so the distance traveled in first hour, that is from a certain 2-digit to its reverse, must be less than 100. Similarly in 2nd hour too it will be less than 100
So the third milestone will be 10x, where 10x is a 3-digit number.
Thus the first milestone is 1x and second is x1..
Distance traveled has to be same in two periods, so 10x-x1=1x...
(100+x)-(10x+1)=(10x+1)-(10+x).........100+x-10x-1=10x+1-10-x.............18x=108..........x=6
So the number on first milestone is 16, and sum of digits is 1+6=7
