Although many Whites, noting the presence of some Blacks in the middle class, think that the time for enforcing civil rights measures is past, Blacks generally are aware that the figures for average income and unemployment show as wide of a radical discrepancy as ever.
(A) that the figures for average income and unemployment show as wide of
(B) that average-income and unemployment figures show as wide
(C) that the average-income and unemployment figures are showing as wide of
(D) of average-income and unemployment figures that show as wide of
(E) of figures for average income and unemployment showing as wide

Please do support your response with reasoning, I have narrowed down to 2 but not able to justify the correct choice.

This is from 1000SC. Anyway, I have a doubt. "as wide OF" vs. "as wide". I thought we need to have "as wide of" since we have "a radical discrepancy". So I narrowed down to A, C, or D. However accoring to 1000SC, the right answer are not in A, C, or D...

One more question. The usage of "the figures for average income and unemployment" is not good?

IMO B. We need "that" for parallelism, so D and E are out. I think "as wide as" is better than "as wide of..as", so i thnik is B. Anyway, a strange question

OA is B.

As many of you chose already. However i was confused that the correct usage of idiom is "Aware of" so according to that it should have been D/E, and E has other issues so that leave us only D.

But i guess the parallelism story about "that" does make sense.
If there are any better explanantion, please do post them.

We do not need showing here. show is correct. C & E out

D sounds as if like Blacks are aware of such numbers. Its a fact. Sentence sounds as if 10 different numbers exist and B's know one such numbers

Between A & B, B is concise and clear.
