hello ppl,
Probably this is not the right forum to ask my question.. or probably not the right website at all..
but just wanted to try it here as there should be a lot of people who ve seen a lot of different personalities of people pursuing MBA and a lot of post MBA career types..
Request to Moderators : If you dont find this is in the appropriate forum, please move it to the right one.. If you feel this is an inapproriate question to be put in any forum in this site, I dont mind discontinuing this thread, but any help regarding where such a counselling is offered is highly appreciated.. thanks..
My question is, will an MBA and a post MBA career suite my kind of a person.. or putting it otherwise, are MBA careers only for those outgoing, partying kind of people, people who are charming etc etc.. ?? Can people who are kind of reserved and are more comfortable in 1-2-1 interactions, generally not percieved as the social types, but can attack a problem from the right angle and come up with good solutionss etc etc, also pursue an MBA degree and eventually a successfull post MBA career.. ?
I know this is a very very generic and even more diffcult question to answer, and there are a lot of factors which are relative in this (like what is success to me , wht career i wnt to pursue, what do i expect from my job etc etc.. ).
But what I am looking for is some kind of re-assurance from the people who ve completed their MBAs or those into their careers, saying ' yes ! there are people of your kind in MBA jobs and they do better in their job too.. '.
Trying to explaing what kind of person I am,I was googling for something that would help me explain in the forum more clearly and I got this.. I took a test on Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and what turned out to be my personality type is INFJ. (this can be easily looked up for in wiki as INFJ. I am not allowed to post URLs as ths is my first post.. )
I know this is very much an out dated model and Im not even sure about the validity of the questionnaire I took to get this answer.. But what is explained in this is type is what I am..
Though this explains things in a more diplomatic way, a lot of features of this personality would be commonly percieved as negatives in terms of the normal outlook we have (or atleast I used to have all along) about an MBA and a post MBA career..
So.. this is being the case, I would be more than thankful to any one who would offer an experienced insight about such people in MBAs and normally what kind of job profiles they are in..
P.S :
I dont believe in trying to work on changing your personality for a career (not that it is not possible, just that i dont bve.. )
I am good in my academics ( have a very good scores in school education and an engineering in Electronics and Communications frm one of the top universities of my state.. )
I have a good work profile (3 yrs, out of which 2 years at the client site out of my native country, leading a small team of people in just three years of on job ex)
