If the startup is giving you a chance to learn exponentially, you are handling several functions as is akin to a start-up culture and the startup itself has good growth prospects, it should be alright.

I agree that if you are getting increased/different responsibilities and experience with your new job, then it sounds like a good move. I wanted to also add in that work experience is just one factor of the MBA application, in addition GMAT score, GPA, leadership and your overall "MBA story."

For your MBA story, make sure you think through your career goals, and how an MBA fits into reaching them. With your current job change as
well, how would this fit into your "MBA story?" Making sure that all the pieces fit together can make or break an application, and can truly differentiate yourself from other applicants.

The good news is schools accept applicants from both large and small companies. While a "feeder" company may have advantages, we help a lot of applicants from smaller organizations. In fact telling the story becomes more of a challenge, and a fun one! Usually at a smaller firm applicants are able to either be promoted faster or obtain additional responsibilities than counterparts at larger organizations.

As mentioned, the biggest thing to keep in mind is the story. So what do you want to do after the MBA? Is a startup where you see yourself long-term?

It's all about the impact you make, the size and branding of the organization is less important, although helpful in some instance. But if you are making a greater impact in your new org then this will be seen as a positive if you can communicate it clearly.

I would be prepared to explain the move in detail if needed, but it sounds like you know exactly why you made that move and know what you will be getting out of it so I would not worry about it if I were you. It is not always about the organization itself but rather what you do there and what you get out of it, after all.

I am also in almost same situation. so, people are suggesting me that I need explain in my application the shift from job to start up. I u can successfully furnish all those details that makes u shift your focus from job to a start up then I think u may get selected in a god institute.
