Hi all,

Thanks in advance for reading and for your input. Admitted to both Yale and Tuck, have visited both schools and can envision myself fitting into both communities. Interested in data analytics, entrepreneurship, and healthcare.

I want an MBA experience that is quantitatively rigorous and highly analytical. Brand also matters to me a lot, given that network is one of the most important aspects of an MBA. Is Yale regarded as an "elite" school and which school do you think has the stronger network?

Can MBA students take advantage of the broader school's network (ie. the Yale or Dartmouth networks?). If so, which school do you think has a stronger network in that regard?

Thanks!

Congratulations!

Tuck is famous for its close knit alumni network and alums who stay in touch and help each other. My vote would be for Tuck.
Yale will have a stronger brand abroad/internationally if you ever end up heading that way.

As to the networks, I think you will mostly stick with your BSchool buddies and won't venture a whole lot to the undergrad network. Not unusual but in talking to people who have graduated from an undergrad of the same school i got my MBA from, we don't really find much to connect with/about - different campuses, different stages of life, etc. It seems it would only work abroad where you may have 10 folks from Yale or Dartmouth in Hong Kong for example and you wanted to connect with them.

In terms of curriculum you can cater your experience largely to be as quantitative/analytical as you would like. At Yale you can start taking your electives in the spring semester of first year and your entire second year is open as well -- so if you really want to take all the analytics courses at SOM and then take some in the engineering department as well (for example), have at it.

SOM has great entrepreneurship opportunities and you'll see a lot of recent health ventures coming out of Yale (look up the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute which SOM is very involved in as a university wide initiative).

You'll get access to the entire Yale network which is hard to beat. I've had great experiences in reaching out to alumni of the college and there's a university wide mentor ship program now as well as other ways to be involved across the university if you're so inclined.
