Paul,

Taking the gmat again is definitely on the cards. But i might want to apply with my current score just to taste the waters.

Solicit your valuable comments on UCR's program and on depauls program too. Are these programs value for money?
Just curious :)

Jyotsna,

Hmmm, good question. Depends on what sort of positions you're looking for and where you want to work. UCR would be good for Southern Calif. and DePaul good for Chicago. They would be good schools locally but not so good outside of their regions. DePaul would actually better than UCR overall, but perhaps more expensive too since DePaul is I believe private and UCR is public.

Good luck,

paul,

will u have any canadian schools on mind for my score(European is also fine)? It need not necassarily be a course in HR, but a course in International management would be still be relevant.

Just exploring :)

Jyotsna,

No particular European or Canadian schools come to mind, but check out Business Week's Online MBA site containing profiles of U.S. and international schools as well as guide books like Princeton Review's "The Best 282 Business Schools." These will enable you to gauge whether your GMAT score is within any given school's range as well as providing information about their offerings.

Good luck,

Paul,

i've looked up Bw online's MBA insider and saw what all it had to offer. With all due respect to BW, I am not sure as to how good an indicator those rankings are. I could not make up my mind on which schools to choose, albiet my low score. But, i agree that it is some information for a person like me. yet to check out princeton's review. Shall do that.

Have you heard of SIMT in Germany? I plan to apply there. In the process of writing my essays and i think i am alomost done with them. Can you spare some time to critique my essays?

Thankyou for everything. you've been very prompt in answering all my queries.

Jyotsna,

I have heard of SIMT and they are a legitimate program, though they are not especially highly ranked. I would imagine they would be an excellent program if your plans might include working in Stuttgart, where they are probably strong. I would be happy to critique your essays. Paul,

I am meeting up with SIMT folks the coming week. It's gonna be a sumptous lunch followed by an info session. This is happening at mumbai as they are coming down to india for an important meet. I am a little excited and also have butterflies in my stomach. This is the first of it's kind that i would be attending.

You might want to advise me or suggest stuff that i need to be careful about!

Thanx,

Jyotsna,

Just be yourself, show interest in their program, and remember the names of every SIMT person you talk to (use later in your essays).

Good luck,

Hi Paul,

Hope ur doing good. I met the director(PR and Marketing)
of SIMt. We talked about my application over lunch. He sounded very positive about my chances of getting an admission. Just hoping that it comes through. Thought i'll keep u posted on the same.

How r u doing!

Paul how much would you rate the MSHRM course at UTA.

Will you also have a list of MSHRM courses which are good in the US?

Anticipating your response.

Jyotsna,

Sorry, I don't have any specific knowledge about Texas's program. I don't know of any rankings of HR programs at B-schools, but I do know that the following schools placed far more of their MBAs in HR functions than other programs, and these are all strong schools:

1. Mass Amherst 15% of 2005 class went into HR jobs
2. Brigham Young 13%
3. Columbia 5%
4. Michigan St. 5%
5. Vanderbilt 5%
6. Wisconsin 4%
7. UC Irvine 4%

Good luck,
