As a non-native speaker, honestly I didn't think of Empower GMAT as the best choice when I considered which course to take. Then the 70-point guarantee of the course draw my attention. Although at the end of the course, I am not qualified for the score policy, I was still happy to “absorb” so many valuable lessons that the course delivered. I chose to gradually study each lesson, adopt suggested strategies if necessary and practice as much as possible in 1-month duration. You know what, I used to think that I don’t need to study Quant, because my Q score was pretty cool already. However, applying 2 methods of Rich, I could finish the Quant session with 15 minutes remained and my accuracy level stayed the same. Regarding Verbal, I love the way Max explained in details every OG questions and built the habit of identifying what type of errors in each wrong options. I cannot describe how I am proud of myself when I applied that habit to every single question, I was able to find out which option is tempting and to explain why that tempting one is just a runner-up.
Last but not least, thank you, Brian and Tom, for your assistance emails whenever I had concerns, from technical problems to academic and strategic questions.
Thank you! :-)

At the last possible moment this year I decided that this was the year to apply for an MBA program. I started vigorously studying MGMAT prep books and doing GMAT club practice tests at the end of March. I was beyond frustrated when in a month I made little progress (520-580).

While the MGMAT books provided a much-needed base of information, they weren't helping me do more with less... Quant was a struggle. I tried math revolution... basically a waste of time. Listening to 30 hours of quant video's doesn't help anyone.

Verbal was rough too... Reading MGMATs "bible" twice was necessary, but painful. Within a week of the empower tactics I was from 40th percentile to 90th, it somehow just came to me. I surprised even myself the first time.

After a bit of focus, I got myself into the mid 600's. I decided it was time to focus and take a one month plan. With a vacation and applications due 6 weeks after I got back, it was now or next year. After reading positive reviews on your plan I decided to try it, for $95 why not.

Well, the results are in, after a few fumbles and a slight mistake on timing I finished with a 690 Q46 V 38 this morning. I missed the last two questions on both Q and V so do feel like I left points on the table. However, I'm within my schools 80% range (Tuck, Darden, HBS)...

I do plan to retake the GMAT with an aim for a 720 in three weeks and feel confident that the EmpowerGMAT resources will get me there. (taking this weekend off first!)

I have been using Empowergmat for last 20 days. I did not use the quant part since I use only GMATclub test for Quant. For verbal, I needed a new strategy and approach. So i thought I will sign up for EmpowerGMAT. The big difference i noticed as follows.

1. SC- Strategy is different. 5 Sec scan to see the answer choices to check or guess the error type. And then reading the sentence. It really helps. Though it takes longer to do the scan. But it is really helpful.
2. RC- the ladder approach is really helpful. We can get the tone as well the summary of each paragraphs. The key is it helps to read with rights goals for each passage.

3. CR- The Boil It down and the missing info details are the one I like. It is really forces to write down the info before I read the answer choices. It is really helping a lot. Build a CR box to write these 2 info really makes to dive deep into the argument.

I also liked the guessing strategy- Triaging for tougher problems and for time constraints to get maximum out of the guessing.

Overall- Good for Verbal. But I cannot rate Quant- Since I did not use it, even though it is part of the offering.

After combing through almost every prep company on Gmat Club and using up each ones free trial I still wasn't very convinced any of them would work for me. Then I read a few reviews on EmpowerGmat, it seemed like they weren't as well known as other companies but after seeing all the useful posts by Rich I signed up for the 24 hours free trial and loved it.

I purchased the 3 month access plus both GmatPrep packs. I was consistently scoring well in Verbal but my quant scores were keeping me from breaking 700. I began by just doing the lessons in order for the first modual but after getting through Algerbra and SC I moved all my focus on quant lessons. The videos by Rich and especially the step by step video solutions really helped solidify the concepts for me. I was one of the ones who knew how to do a quant problem but I couldn't consistently do them the Gmat way in under 2 minutes. Rich's videos especially the ones were he shows multiple approaches to the same problem really helped me hone in on shortcuts and made me stop overthinking. In the end I went from a Q43 from my self study first attempt to a Q48 allowing me to break the 700 barrier and end with a 750.

This review is based on my jump from 550 (Q37, V28) to 660 (Q47, V34).

[Quant]

When I first started with empower, I knew my Quant is stupid. I completely threw all my quantitative knowledge away and what empower did was bring them back. Rich has a great way of engaging the audience and I loved that aspect so much. The podcasts were really helpful in shaping my mindset towards how to approach questions. The way the course was structured helped me apply what I learnt in the course to what I will see in the exam. The solutions were easy to follow and anyone who strictly follow Rich's quant teaching can definitely hit a Q47. The only complain I have for the quant part is the heavy reliance of formula memorization for the rate x time questions. I'm not a big fan of remembering things because I'm very forgetful.

[Verbal]

I am quite disappointed by empower's teaching for verbal. I think the verbal portion for Empower would benefit natives more than non-native speakers. The course lacks explanation on why certain GMAT rules are that way. However, I do feel that the boil it down method for critical reasoning was very helpful for practicing. However, when you do GMAT in the exam... you will never get the chance to boil down... it's just way too slow. The RC portion of the course also helped me with GMAT. Previously, I used to just read the text several times and answer the GMAT but after using Empower I realized that you need to take it slow. Without that advice I would have never been good at RC.

[GMAT Strategies]

If there was a rating for this section for GMAT courses I would throw a 10 out of 5 for EmpowerGMAT. These guys are the best for both Verbal and Quant. (Though I could also debate that Mathrevolution top them for Quant strategies). The way they structured triage and let you know what kind of questions to drop... man that was a life savior in the exam. For those who are anxious ducks like me, EMPOWER will tell you exactly how to calm the duck down so that you will not ruin your chance for a great score. You've gotta train yourself to master GMAT. There is no other way unless you are the top top top top test takers.

The awesome part about Empower is the triage strategy. Sometime in the exam room you will face questions that will make you want to scream and run out of the room, however with triage you will be able to eliminate them quite easily and move on to questions you know you can solve.

After two different big box curriculums (in-person and online) with very little progress, I didn't know what to do. I was working against a crunched timeframe and was in desperate need for a fresh GMAT perspective. As a poor standardized test taker, I found that the EMPOWER modules taught me about what the test is really trying to test. I finally found myself having a grasp on what content I would need to know and what different approaches I could use, even if it came down to guessing strategy. Along with great content, Rich (the instructor) does a great job of weaving in short clips of tips outside of the pure content that keeps you engaged and ready for the big day.

I regret the thousands of dollars I spent with big box programs, feeling overwhelmed and buried with 20 lbs of books. EMPOWER is by far the most cost-effective GMAT prep program. I'm sure my score would have went up more had I not had just a couple week timeframe to improve. In any event, I was admitted into one of dream MBA programs and I know it was huge to have the small score edge I earned from my few weeks of EMPOWER.

I signed on with EMPOWERgmat after a disappointing 650 on my 1st attempt at the GMAT. Rich did an analysis of my ESR and gave me a recommended study plan that I followed. The course has a high focus on tactics and logic whilst providing me with the foundations necessary to tackle all the concepts that the exam threw at me.

I've never been great at math, but the way it was taught by Rich made it extremely simple. There are multiple ways of solving certain problems, but Rich shows you how to figure out the best (and most efficient) way to approach even the most complicated prompts. After going through the Empower modules, I was confident that even if I was given an unfamiliar question, I'd know the best tactic and method to approach the question. Rich was also always ready to answer emails and provide me with feedback whenever I had questions about my progress. Overall I loved the EMPOWER approach to the Quantitative part of the test.

The Verbal part of the course is pure gold. My Verbal score improvement was from the 50-60th percentile till the 90th percentile in my final score. After going through the Empower modules, I scored a perfect 51 on RC in every mock and on the official exam. My SC improved from the 40th percentile to the 90th. Max doesn't just teach you how to get the right answer, he shows you what to look for in the answer prompt and how to easily identify and eliminate wrong answers. Overall, I found that the Verbal section in the actual GMAT was an absolute breeze and I finished it with almost 10 mins left on the clock.

I would like to add a special mention to the support and advisor team from EMPOWERgmat as well. Brian & Stacy were amazing at getting back to me, answering problems and sorting out whatever issues I had. I don't think there was a single instance where they took more than a few hours to get back to me and solve my queries.

Overall, the entire team at EMPOWERgmat is as invested in your success as you are. If you have any doubts whatsoever about the GMAT, then just sign up with them and don't look back. They'll get you to the score you need.

This was the first time I was appearing for my GMAT, and by some good luck I was able to sandwich my date between the process of switching jobs. I always knew I would be able to ace the Quant section of GMAT, partly because of my engineering background, and partly because I love doing analytical mathematics. But being a non-native speaker, the Verbal section was always an uphill task for me.
Despite joining local coaching classes, and sitting for numerous practise tests, my verbal score stagnated at 36-37 and the overall score at 720. With a month to go for my exam, I knew I had to take some urgent measures if I have to go beyond 750.
I tried out the freebies given by all the online prep websites, and chose EMPOWERgmat over the others, primarily because of the style of teaching in the lectures. The lectures are clear, crisp and very involving. The clarity provided about different methods to tackle the questions in GMAT, the analytics of responses and the thought behind the exam as a whole were pivotal in improving my score. I realised, you can't be smart enough to know everything; you got to improvise and think like the test-maker (or at least try to)!
I still have a long way to go before I get into an MBA program, but aiming for the top is now a possibility, all thanks to EMPOWERgmat. I'll be more than happy to help out other folks in any way I can, and answer any questions you might have! Cheers.

I'm a non-native English speaker. I have took other prep courses, but what they really teach you is how to answer a problem. Given the time constraint and competitiveness, how to solve a problem is not the only thing you needed, you need some tricks to get ahead of others. It's like any other game that you play. If you just know how to play a game, only that doesn't get you anywhere, but you also need to know how to tackle it wisely. That's exactly what EMPower teaches you. It's really worth it. It doesn't matter what prep course you follow; this is a must for you if you want to learn some tricks and tips. It's worth every penny.

I was out of touch from Mathematics for over 9 years. It was very difficult for me to understand the tricks and methods behind solving the Quant problems. But this course helped me to look at Quants in a very different way. EMPOWERGmat helped me boost my Quant score from Q39 to Q47. The lessons are really helpful, I would recommend this course for anybody who wants to boost their GMAT Score. You are guaranteed a Q47-51 if you opt for this course. However, I did not notice any change in my verbal scores, but the verbal lessons were pretty helpful as well.
Thank you Rich and Max! :)
