Hi,

Hereby, I would like to review Optimus Prep’s online on demand course. I took this course and found generally very helpful and easy to use. I was able to study anywhere where I had an internet connection and liked features like the customized quizzes or the adaptive nature of the system.

Pros

- Much content
- Score improvement guarantee
- Adaptive
- Recommends what to study
- Practice tests and many practice questions
- Glossary
- Great support

Cons

- There are some courses with even more video lessons
- A few tiny bugs (most fixed though)

Overall, I give 5 of 5 stars for this course. The price is more than fair and the product has a free trial access for all interested users.

Taught by: Justin Optimus Prep

As an international student, Verbal section was my nemesis. Math was not much of a problem, though, but I kept scoring in 40-48 range and the variation was too much. Justin and I spend most of our time working on verbal, and improved it from late 20s to mid-30s. He started to build my confidence as well as my math and verbal skills. Not only he gave my all the useful strategies but also he created a customized study schedule for me. After two months, I successfully increased my verbal score as well as quant score by, totaling my overall score over 100 points.
Justin first spent time learning about my strengths and weaknesses and guided me through developing a strategy that would work for me. The most important thing Justin taught me was to approach the quant section with logic and problem solving instead of using purely Algebra or mathematics. This may seem like a simple thing to do but it took a while to get use to this. Justin also helped me develop strategies for each question that cater to my strengths and go around my weakness. Justin shared his knowledge of the different question types and taught me how to think from the perspective of the test makers. After studying with Justin I was able to develop a clear strategy for guessing, time management, multiple choice and data sufficiency problems. And on a deeper level for each type of question, for example how to approach a Data sufficiency Geometry question or numbers property question. After meeting Justin and learning from him, I felt like I had wasted a lot of time learning everything, when I should have been focusing on developing strategies that cater to my strengths and practicing problem solving, not solving algebra and math problems.
For Verbal I spent time over 70% of the sessions, but I think Justins approach to Reading Comprehension and Sentence Correction really improved my score more than the effort I put. He taught me how to use logic and reasoning to answer the questions and to focus on the why in the RC and to use reasoning for SC. I must have missed that in the MGMT guides. I’m sure I could’ve improved more on Verbal if I spent more time with Justin. I have wandered all over the place but could not locate the central idea. With Justin’s guidance I realized where I was going wrong. Comparing with other courses I have taken, his private online session is the best part of studying month. Justin was real with me and gave me the confidence and the tools to tackle the GMAT. He helped me develop a customized approach and was patient with me as I began to see and understand that test as he does. There is no doubt that Justin is a GMAT master. I appreciated his help and would give him a 5 star review! Having said all this, you still need to put in a lot of time and effort to get the score you want.

I bought the GMAT on demand course by Optimus Prep.

It has the following features:

- thousands of questions
- explanations for all of them
- customized quizzes
- video lessons
- practice tests
- optional: private tutoring

I found the quality to be very good and the layout was very easy to understand. The video lessons covered everything relevant and I also had 12 hours with a tutor who was a true master in his field.

The included score guarantee of 50 points gave me extra confidence and I liked the analytic features very much because I was able to observe my progress easily.

I found a few spelling mistakes in the software which is actually one of the very few weaknesses I was able to find.

The price of only $299 (with discount code) is reasonable and actually even cheap compared to competitors.

That is def. a strong buy recommendation...

Hello folks,

I would love to share my GMAT journey with you.

When I started I had a diagnostic test score of only 560 which was far away from my target score of 700+. I did intensive research and found that online private tutoring was the best for my needs because it was very personalized and flexible compared to traditional class courses.

The rate is higher though. However, I found Optimus Prep to offer online private tutoring to a very low price compared to the competition. First, I thought this is too good to be true but they also offer a free online trial hour.

I decided to test it and liked my tutor Jennifer from the beginning. She convinced me to sign up for the 34 hour package with a score guarantee.

The requirements are high but realistic. I had to finish all lessons with her, do the entire on demand course (which was included for free), take all practice tests.

I made fast and constant improvements after I started working with Jennifer. My practice test score improved tremendously and finally I began scoring around the 700 benchmark.

I gained enough confidence to go to test center. I was nervous although I knew that I am well prepared. I was able to score 710 and as a satisfied customer I highly consider taking their admissions consulting services as well...

I was having a lot of trouble with the gmat and I thought I had exhausted every resource. Looking back, all the various resources I used was probably part of the problem. I didn’t center my strategy and approach the prep in any was specifically, I just ran at the different question types and then tried to argue when I got questions wrong. The online class course is what really helped me resolve my issues, and probably confidence had become my biggest problem. With the group online course, the instructor helped me find my problem areas with relative ease, and explained clearly the false lines of reasoning that were pulling me astray. There were others in the class who were even less prepared than I was, and it made me feel better to be exposed to others who were having problems too. As we went through the material using diagnostic tests as waypoints and always adjusting accordingly, I found my practice tests scores improving and my confidence level sky-rocketing. When I finally went into the GMAT testing center to take the real thing, I felt like nothing could surprise me or get me off-track – and nothing did! Thank you Optimus Prep!

I liked the Optimus GMAT course a lot. I decided to buy the platinum version which included the individual study plan and 10 hours of private tutoring with a 99th percentile tutor.

the course layout was easy and effective. Video lessons, notes, homework assignments and practice tests helped me to prepare fro home. I watched 1-2 weeks the lessons and did the assignments and wrote down all questions. Then I arranged a lesson with my tutor and asked all the stuff that was unclear to me. The tutor was very smart but was able to explain complex concepts in an easy way. the video lessons were very helpful because all elements were covered and the assignments were chosen to practice the respective material.

I improved steadily in my practice tests and finally improved by 130 points!

I am happy with my choice. I bought the on demand course and had access to a lot of material. Video lessons were good to learn the basics and the homework assignments were helpful for practicing. I took many full practice tests to observe my progress and liked the GMAT quizzes.

I also liked the official guide a lot. The combination of my dedication, the on demand course and the official guide lead to my score of 710! I started from 540 in my diagnostic and made fast progress from the beginning.

If you are serious and really want to succeed Optimus Prep can be of help to you. By the way, I shared my full journey in a success story in the forum if you are interested...

The class course online from optimus prep was terrific. I can’t say enough how happy I am that I found this company and the class was easily worth the money. The other competitors were more expensive by far anyway and there is no reason they would be so much more expensive that I can see. Although it costs less it even has more class time. I was a bit careful at the beginning and called their customer support to find out if there is any reason why they offer more for less. Their support is always available and answered all my questions. I was impressed and gave it a shot!

The class I had took place online in a program called Webex, which works a lot like skype calls but it has a whiteboard in the middle of the screen where powerpoints and pdfs can be loaded, and everyone can communicate and draw easily. There were seven of us but it never seemed to be any trouble to ask questions personally, never felt “crowded”. I especially liked that we took a diagnostic test at the beginning and the tutor used it to create a personal plan for me even though I was just one of the students. My initial score in the diagnostic was only 530 points because I was out of school for a few years and worked in the consulting industry. The tutor did the individual diagnostic test analysis for everyone and then made sure we had class time to cover everything that we needed. I continued taking the practice tests, which were exactly like the GMAT in the sense that they were CATs and the questions were spot on. I improved noticeably bit by bit, always attacking my problem areas on at a time when they appeared. After scoring 3 times above my target score of 670 I took the real GMAT. I am very happy to say that I scored 690! I highly recommend this course and even considering taking a few private tutoring lessons to crack the 700.

I took the GMAT online class course option from Optimus Prep, which seemed like the best deal and best idea to me. The difference with the class course is that the classes are given in small groups instead of individually, but the price of course was much better for me in the group class. I can’t imagine that I would have been more satisfied with an individual class though, because everything was very individualized anyway. My tutor started by having everyone take their own diagnostic CAT test to see where we all stood. Afterward, he was always willing to dedicate time during class and also afterwards through e-mails to answer my specific questions. We worked on problems that I had, many of which were shared by the majority of the others in the class, but some were not. Even though the class was group-centered and not centered just on me, I felt like I benefited sometimes more from the questions other participants asked that I wouldn’t necessarily have. There were seven of us all together, and it was a pleasant experience that really helped to improve my score, over a hundred points I’m proud to say!

Hello,

I want to share my experience with Optimus Prep.

I bought the on demand course for $299 ($200 discount for gmatclub members). The course was really comprehensive and had more to offer than actually anyone can realistically handle. Thousands of questions, numerous video lessons for all concepts and 9 full GMAT practice tests.

I found the course to be helpful and was able to prepare from home on my iPad. That was very convenient.

I was able to improve myself from 530 in my diagnostic test to a 690 on test day. I am not satisfied with that score though because I am sure that i can overcome the 700 benchmark if i continue to study.

I will take a few hours of private tutoring and hope to improve. Nevertheless, the price I paid so far was more than fair compared to the value I received at Optimus Prep!
