Hello !!

I had a question about the typical roles that most of your graduates land in consumer facing companies such as J&J, GSK, Reckitt Benckiser, Samsung or even retail companies such as Sears, Tesco etc.

Since many of these companies may or not be headquartered out of Switzerland, do these roles tend to be focused on the domestic Swiss industry or do you also see instances of candidates being recruited for international positions?

I am a brand management / product development professional and my interest is in pursuing a role where I can be part of a global product strategy or product innovation team.

I am sorry if my question is beyond the intended scope of this forum. I am just trying to assess whether my expectations are in line with the general trend of opportunities available to graduates.

I'd really appreciate any advice that you might have to offer. Thank you for your time !!

***I have posted this question to another b-school as well on this forum, however I would really appreciate your perspective as well based on the trend at IMD. Thank you once again !!

Hello Bigdreams,

Thanks, your question is interesting. I had it checked by our Career Services.

Our graduates generally go and work for the industry and they take these kind of roles: product/marketing/brand manager; operations manager; internal strategy consultant; finance management. (No order of priority).

Our program prepares participants for international positions, so our recruiters choose IMD for global positions. Switzerland houses a number of international or EMEA headquarters, our graduates take roles in these HQ but also anywhere in the world.

If your interested in learning more about foreign companies based in Switzerland, I can suggest you read a joint study by Boston Consulting Group and the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce. The pdf is fairly long, but will give you a good idea. You can download it here. Thanks.

Best regards,

Mark

Hi There!
Are you guys still sending out invitations for round 1? I am concerned that non-EU applicants for Round 1 may not have enough time to complete visa formalities before the end of the month now. OR do you have interview dates beyond the Round 2 application deadline?

Can we expect calls up to March 14th for Round 1 applicants?
Thank You.

Dear IMD2013applicant,

We have not finished evaluating applications received on February 1 deadline. The process takes between 3 and 6 weeks as each application file is read twice, by two seperate readers. We do not shortlist files based on GMAT score or any criteria, so if you have not heard back from us, it means your file is still being evaluated. We will be contacting everybody next week.

Concerning the Assessment Day, they will take place in March and beginning of April. If we see a number of applicants having issues with visas, we will find a solution.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks,

Mark

Is anyone aware if your GMAT, transcripts, and degree certificate all have to be notarized originals for the application or only once you have been admitted/interviewed? Can I just send scanned copies of the originals for the application or are the official versions required initially?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

We need to receive your transcripts/diplomas with your application.

Diplomas
Transcripts are required from all colleges, universities and professional schools attended and must include:
- A comprehensive record of completed courses
- Grades obtained
- Overall grade average
- Class ranking (if available)
We only accept original transcripts, or photocopies which are certified 'true copies of the original'. Documents may be certified as 'true copies' by school officials or other legal authorities such as embassies or notaries. Accompanying explanations, such as grade scales used, are useful.

GMAT
Please be sure to indicate IMD as an automatic recipient of your official GMAT score report. The IMD MBA GMAT report code is SKR-MM-13

Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks.

Hi Mark,

I am wondering if it possible to learn French while at IMD. Are there any programs IMD offers or are affiliated with that are in the area?

Dear jklarich,

As the content of our MBA program is the equivalent of a two year US program, there is not much time for language courses during your year at IMD. Instead of language courses, we want you to focus on your personal development which is composed of an individual learning plan and individual project.

As all our graduates take international job positions, they don't have much use of French - unless, of course, they stay in Switzerland or move to France, but then learn the local language after they graduate. Thanks.

Best regards,

Mark

Dear Makstory,

Thanks for applying, you should hear back from us within 3 to 6 weeks. FYI: it's important that applicants submit their online application (click the submit button) no later than 11:59 PM the day of the deadline. If a recommendation letter and/or supporting documents come in a little late (2-3 days), it's not a problem.

Best regards,

Mark

hi IMD Adcom,

Im a 2014 aspirant, and currently preparing for the GMAT. im currently 30 years old and have 7 years of work ex in telecom.

in terms of my work ex and my expectations from an MBA (1 year, international exp, small batch strenght, reputation) only 2-3 schools fit the bill with IMD being one of them.

i wanted to get in touch with some recent alumni (preferably 2010, 2011 passouts) to understand their perspectives and some queries that i had.

would it be possible to share this info for the alum willing to be contacted?

thanks a ton!

Dear Admissions team,

I have a very unique question.

I spent my first 3 years of engineering in India and than took a transfer to University of Surrey for the last year and graduated with first class honours ( Top 5 of my class)

My problem is that I can't produce the transcripts for my first 3 years as my previous university will not provide it - as far as they are concerned, I didnt finish my degree and left them after 3 years.

Should that and will that affect my chances? All the schools seem to require all the transcripts.
I have an overall good academic record.

Thanks

Dear tsheshraj,

Sure, we do provide alumni sheets. To get a sheet, you will need to fill in our "Contact Alumn" form. Someone from our Marketing team will get back to you with a list. Thanks,

Mark

Dear AshShukla,

You must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution to apply to our MBA program. When applying, we need original transcripts or photocopies which are certified 'true copies of the original'. If your school can not provide transcripts, have a legal authority, such as embassies or notaries, certify a photocopy of your degree 'true copies of the original'. Thanks,

Mark
