Hi Mark,

I was just scrolling through below link that highlights the class profile for IMD :

http://www.imd.org/programs/mba/upload/ ... rofile.pdf

I noticed that almost all of the people graduating have international experiences. Is it that you absolutely stress on this criteria ?

I have been involved in working with an MNC and now working in my own startup. But I am far from any sort of international experience.

I had a look through the student profile at IMD and found a few interesting issues. Could you kindly clarify :

1) Most of the students have a work experience in varied countries, many-a-times in obscure industries (eg. NGOs in Europe and Africa). How helpful is having such a "colourful" work experience for IMD admission?
2) Most of the students were fluent in more than two languages, a few of them even upto six languages. I found this very intimidating as I know only three languages, none of them European except English. Proficiency in how many languages would give me a competitive advantage over the rest?

Regards,
Fivedaysleft

Hi!

Quote:
I noticed that almost all of the people graduating have international experiences. Is it that you absolutely stress on this criteria?

We look at your international outlook: time spent living outside your country of origin, the international scope of your career and your knowledge of foreign languages. It's a combination of all three, you might not have worked abroad but you speak four languages, you might have worked with a number of people from different countries (etc...).

Remember to bring out as much international outlook when writing the application.

We do not look for a "colourful" work experience, we look at your career progression: how your responsibility has increased, the breadth and depth of the knowledge you have acquired, and the impact you have made on your organization.

Quote:
The minimum requirement is one language in addition to English. As mentioned above, we will evaluate your international outlook: time spent living outside your country of origin, the international scope of your career and your knowledge of foreign languages.

I have a question and would appreciate a quick answer. Can the 3 letters of recommendation be completed online by my recommenders? Or do they have to print the PDF and write on it?

Sorry the instructions are not to clear on the site. Would really appreciate a response, as my recommenders are incredibly busy people who dont have time to sit and write handwritten notes.

Thanks!!

Dear Ozzyk,

You can chose. When preparing the online application, under "additionnal documents", you have the possibility to either:
- fill in the contact details of your recommenders and we will then send them an email with the instructions.
Or either
- download the pdf, read the instructions on the pdf, and send it be mail/email to your recommender.

Thanks,

Best regards

Mark

Dear Mark,

I am interested in applying to IMD for 2013 class. I will be visting IMD on 30 September to know more about the IMD MBA. I already met IMD representative at MBA Fair 2010 in Amsterdam and spoke to an IMD alumni, from Netherlands, who spoke highly of IMD and motivated me to apply to IMD. At MBA Fair 2010, IMD also gave me the contact details of IMD alumni in Netherlands. The IMD alumnis whomever I contacted said that the best decision they made in their life is doing an MBA at IMD. I will be meeting IMD representative again at MBA Fair 2011 in Amsterdam.

I am eagerly waiting for the online application form for 2012 IMD MBA.

Though I filled out the assessment chances form two weeks ago, I havent heard from IMD about my chances. Could you please assess my chances?
