I need help regarding the sentence I have written below. Is 'view that' a correct idiom.

A majority of the international journalists surveyed view nuclear power stations as unsafe at present but that they will, or could, be made sufficiently safe in the future.

Can we consider the second part of the sentence(after 'but') a link to the 'view'?

A majority of the international journalists surveyed view nuclear power stations as unsafe at present but view that they will, or could, be made sufficiently safe in the future.

Please help.

Yes you can... but I think both your examples are wrong ...

First sentence is not parallel. As per my understanding to link you should have parallel clause ,in first sentence view should be followed by that so that the part before "but" and after "but " are both relative clause introduced by "that"

A majority of the international journalists surveyed view that nuclear power stations as unsafe at present but that they will, or could, be made sufficiently safe in the future.

Your second sentence is again wordy and but view that view is redundant...
