Hello all. So I'm finally done and over with the GMAT. Took the test this morning after a terrible night, but managed to pull off a great score. Very pleased with this and thanks to all who shared knowledge on this board. This site really made a big difference in helping me achieve the score.

First of all, I studied for about 3-4 month to prepare for this day. I knew I would not want to go through over it again, so I made sure I was ready. The night before I studied all my missed questions both verbal and math. The most unfortunate thing was I got in a fight with my gf, which distracted me somewhat. I went to bed at 10:30 and set the alarm at 6:30, thinking 8 hours should be enough sleep. Little did I know I started to feel anxious about the test and caused me to stay awake for another 2 hours. Test morning came, I drank a rock star and ate a couple granola bars. By the time I arrived at the test center I had jitters in my stomach-I hate this feeling. The argument essay was easy since I practiced multiple times where as the analytical one had a weird topic that threw me off. I took the whole 30 minutes on the analytical one since I ain't a good creative writer.

Little bit of background about me - I've been a pretty good test taker my whole life, and I usually excelled at math over verbal. So the quant section was fairly easy for me. I probably spent 25% of my time studying for quant. I took the gmat prep tests (1 & 2) twice each and scored 49-51 on quant consistently. On the actual test, I took the entire time to finish this section. The only advice I can give to those who wants to improve quantitative section is practice teaching others on how you solved each math problem. This method has helped to digest the toughest problems, and as I teach others, I gain a better understanding myself.

A side note: interesting there was one question on the actual gmat that was exactly word for word for a question I saw multiple times in my practice. I"m fairly certain that even the gmatprep had the same question. But I don't know if that question even counted.

Now the verbal section I battled with in the middle. 3 easy reading passages and one really tough one at the end. My eyes started to blur and my concentration began to dissipate by this time. I had to take half a minute just to breathe and re-concentrate. SC was average and CR was easy. Surprisingly I finished with 6+ minutes left.

Studying for the verbal part was definitely a challenge. My best source for SC is the OLD VERSION of the MGMAT grammar. I personally think the new one is not as good. Since I had some LSAT books, I studied CR and RC off of them. Some of the questions on LSAT make GMAT look easy. So I'd recommend study hard on LSAT questions and by the time you come back to GMAT, it should be a walk in the park.

Well that's it folks. I'm done with my GMAT journey and wish you all the best of luck.

what percentile was your 760 ?
I'm wondering if a 760 is now 98th percentile, someone posted a 760 a few days ago with a 98 percentile

Don't worry dude, GMAC will have to cancel 6000 scores, so I guess that new 99th percentile will be somewhere between 720 and 730 :-D

How fast the top results were going past year, there was a serious threat that 760 will no longer yield 99th %-tile. Now, "GMAT is getting harder"... In reality, it's harder only to get "live" questions.

Very nice, good luck.

It seems there are some very smart people around here, maybe we need the 760 club.

Just received my AWA score - 5.5 (80%). I wonder how can you tell what your Argument essay vs Issue essay scores are. I'd expected the report to break it down. But I guess not.
