Academic weakness [#permalink] New post 22 Oct 2004, 09:08
In my second semester of Engineering, I scored 60%.
In rest of semester I scored 70% plus.
My question is: Shall I mention this low percentage in my essays? (I do have a valid reason for this low percentage) (Please also note that this is not a bad percentage but lower than my overall average of 71%.)
Also I performed very well in my next semesters and my percentage has risen in every semester.
{ Just for your info My Academic performance
Sem1: 69%
Sem2: 60%
Sem3: 70%
Sem4: 71%
Sem5: 72%
Sem6: 70%
Sem7: 74%
Sem8: 78% }

It doesn't sound like that big of a deal, so I recommend against highlighting it in your essays. Just be ready to answer why this happened in case it comes up in an interview.

I agree that there is little point in calling attention to the low semester. Generally, when I see a pattern like the one you cited, I view the low semester as a fluke.
