Adequate Work Experience? [#permalink] New post 02 Sep 2011, 11:08
Hi Bryant,

I'm currently trying to decide between applying to business schools next year or the year after. I would prefer to apply next year, however, and was wondering if you think 45 months of WE upon matriculation (age 27) is sufficient to not raise any sort of flags? I'm looking to completely switch industries so I don't feel an extra year would give me any more relevant experience however I would be able to take on further responsibility if I stuck around (although it would not be "game-changing"). Your advice is much appreciated!

Thanks! :-D

three years plus is definitely adequate considering you have had notable achievements, recognition or advancement. If you don't feel you can "do much more" in the subsequent year, you will likely obtain marginal credit from an adcom for another year--it's really all in what you do with it. "why b-school now" is an important question that schools generally want you to be able to answer convincingly, so I'd just work out my answer to that and get going on applications. Let us know if we can help.
