Admission chances top 5 [#permalink] New post 14 Mar 2011, 12:22
Hi Alex,

I am an international applicant. I have been living in Europe for the past 6 years and working as a technical consultant for a financial software company. I have been all over Europe, parts of US, Russia, Gulf, Middle East and India (part of my job)
My profile is as follows
Age: 31
GMAT: 680 (taken in 2008)
Current position: Stream lead for integration part
ME in Computer Eng avg 90/100
BE in Computer Eng GPA 3.56/4 (Magnum Cum Laude)
both degrees in my native country from a reputable university (Lebanon)
Work Ex: 3 years as a software developer, 6 years as a technical consultant.
Extra currics (scouting, sports) with leadership positions

I am considering applying to INSEAD and was wondering about my chances that my GMAT < 700. How can I push my profile further, if any?
What about my chances at SBS or IMD?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

I think you're on the margins for INSEAD with your GMAT score -- it's really the only thing holding you back. You still have an outside shot because of your extensive international experience (which INSEAD values much more than any other b-school) so that can certainly help you. However, it would be a sweet spot for you if your score was 700+.

For Oxford or IMD, you should be competitive with the score as is. Again, a 700+ is ideal, but for these schools you should be fine.

Best thing you can do is find a way if you can squeeze 20 to 40+ points on the GMAT.

And of course, doing the best you can on the essays.
