Advice please [#permalink] New post 27 Apr 2005, 12:20
Hi Scott/Omari,
i have couple of basic questions about the professionals with electrical engineering back ground.....i did my masters in electrical engineering...but i am working in IT...

its been more than a year that I have been working in IT...now i want to get started on my mission for an MBA (which I am planning to start in few years from now)....but in the meanwhile I want to work on preparing for a MBA degree...

i tried to research and see what people with electrical engineering background and MBA end up with...but i could not find lot of information...

i would really appreciate if someone can guide me on what typical MBA grads with elec. engg background do...
with that in mind.... what will be a good homework for a future MBA degree (i.e for a person with elec engg background aspiring to do MBA after couple of years) ...

Thanks in advance...

I don't know that there is a typical path for electrical engineers specifically, but engineers more broadly tend to end up in:

- Technology (product, IT, consulting)
- Finance (strong quant background can help)

The purpose of the MBA for many is to expand your horizons, so a better way to look at it might be to: a) Think about what sort of careers appeal to you and then b) Figure out a way to sell you engineering background as an asset in that field.
