Advice Please...!! [#permalink] New post 04 Jun 2005, 03:01
Hi...

I am intending to apply and enroll in an MBA program as early as possible - Here is my brief profile:

GMAT - 730(97%) ( Q - 50(95%) , V - 40(91%))

Undergrad GPA - 3.9 ( Top 10 Engineering college in India)

Work Experience - 6 years (Currently, leading a team of 20 people in
a top class MNC IT company and includes 2 years international experience as well)

I know I belong to Indian IT male fraternity, but I am very confident on my essay and recos...

What are the top schools that I can target for?

Also, which one-year program schools are good for me, given my profile.

Thanks a lot for your response..it will mean a lot to me in coming months..

You are competitive for any B-school. I believe you would have to specify what your interests are so that you can narrow down your choice.

Thank you Paul...you are mainly responsible for my good verbal score :)

I would like to add few more points:

I am 26 years old and have considerable community service activities..

After my MBA:

My first option would be to continue in IT more in leadership positions, preferably in US or UK

My second option would be to opt for Management Consultancy or investment banking...(Career shift)

Thanks..Satish

Congrats on your great score by the way

This is a list from Hjort as to the ranking for consulting schools:

This is a ranking for finance schools:

For IT options, I would tend to believe schools in the west, with their close ties to Silicon Valley, will have an edge (Stanford, UCLA, Berkeley) but I'm sure there could be other choices as well. Maybe Linda or Hjort might want to advise you further.

Satish,

For more IT, look into MIT, CMU, Haas, Wharton, Kellogg, and Stanford. For consulting and finance, look more at Stanford, Darden, Tuck, Wharton, Chicago, Kellogg, CBS, and NYU.

Please realize that there is overlap in the above lists. You can go into consulting or finance from MIT and Tuck has a Center for Digital Technology. My lists reflects schools strengths not rigid limitations.

Good luck!
