Yes sir - all done finally with recos. Wharton, Columbia, Yale, Cornell and Stern..phew. Lets see now what happens
I am also going to "try" to not get worked up about the apps, no more checking gmatclub as often as I do..no more sweating over the app forms. I am gonna try to get back to my normal life of going out, working out, partying hard and forget everything.
Anyway regardless of how this turns out - thanks to everyone on the board for all the help you have been.
All the best to everyone!

sterny oh boy...I am dying to be at your stage... unfortunately its a long long road for me. I thinks its awesome that you were able to finish your apps before time , so much better than waiting until those last few hours before the deadline. Good luck to you!

Congrats! I've got 2/8 done for R1. I'm hoping to be in your shoes by the end of next week!

3/5 R1 complete so far, will be 4/5 by end of week.
NYU is a long ways away (11/15 seems like eternity).

Thanks for the encouragement guys.
To be honest the reason I finished early is because I started writing my essays back in April/May. I used last years essays and only had to accommodate for a few new ones. Went about 30 drafts on the goals essay.
Secondly, my approach to essays was not school by school. I started with the school that gave me the maximum freedom (Wharton)..as it covered every theme - Leadership, Failure, Goals, Wildcard. After that I spent about 2 weeks for every school. The goals essay changed significantly for every school as some were forward-looking goals essay and the others were all encompassing. But the failure or leadership essays were more or less the same.. some of the emphasis might have been different.
Anyway, this is not a race..it's only worth it if I get in. 2 of my apps are under review though (Columbia and Cornell) so keeping fingers crossed.

Good luck sterny - you've worked hard. I'm sure the work will be reflected in the results.

Man, and I thought I was an early bird starting my essays in June. I didn't have 20-30 drafts, but I did a TON of pre-writing work on the essays, which made them go by a bit easier. I am just putting the finishing touches on my Chicago slides, with the plan to submit all three applications on Wednesday.
On the subject of application submission, isn't it a disadvantage to submit the applications so far before the deadline? Wouldn't the admissions committee think, "Hmm, why didn't you spend the last four weeks strenghening your application as much as possible before submission?"

try not to overthink these things. Because you can always argue that the adcoms will think: "Gee, this person is SO on top of things and got his/her app in so early! We should admit him/her." or "This person submitted so early, which will allow us to start reading before the bulk of the applications come in. We will now view his/her application more favorably." You can go on and on... If the application is as good as you'll get it, then submit it. If not, polish it more, but don't overdo it.

0/5.. changing strategy - have to shift schools to r2...my recos are just not in yet !!!
Sticking to only 2 schools for R1..(Hope I can get this right ! )
Do I need to do anything specific to mention a new deadline to adcoms ? (I remember clicking r1 somewhere..)
