Bad Practice test-Cause for Concern? [#permalink] New post 17 Jan 2013, 13:28
Ive been preparing for the GMAT for a couple of months now. The first month my studying was sporradic, maybe a few hours here and there and totaled around 5 hours. In the past 5 weeks ive been studying ~25 hours a week and following all of the advice on here. My study materials have been OG 13 OG Quant and MGMAT guides and I have been taking practice tests at the end of each week. I have been focused probably 70% Quant 30% V. My scores have been as follows..

All scores are MGMAT

Initial Diagnostic- 610(41Q,33V)
Week 1-620(42Q,33V)
Week 2-640(43Q,35V)
Week 3-680(45Q,37V)
Week 4-680(44Q,38V)
Today-610(44Q,31V)

My test is a week from today and im aiming for a 700+..I have already reviewed all of my mistakes from my practice test today and feel I made some stupid mistakes, but scoring that low on Verbal still shocks me. Is it normal to have this big of a deviation so close to my exam? Has anybody experienced something similiar? What would you advise to do for my last week?

I would suggest you to think of it as just that - a deviation. Instead, focus your energies on figuring out why your score plummeted back to its original level. Also, since you have a week left, try taking a GMAT prep test (available free of cost from mba.com) if you haven't taken any yet. That will give you an accurate picture. In the next 3-4 days, focus on your error log and on reviewing tough practice test questions and your strategies. In the last 2 days, try to relax as much as possible.
