I have read elsewhere that GMAT scores on the tails of the distribution get extremely rare. For example, I once read that there were four times as many 770s as there were 780s. Is this true? Has anyone seen this "study"?

In ANY distribution with a central tendency, numbers at the tails will get rarer as they go further out on the tails.
