I am thinking about applying to start in the Fall of '10. I am 23 years old (will be 25 when I start) and will have 2.5 years of experience. My undergrad is from the University of Oklahoma where I had a 3.2 gpa and a double major in Finance and Accounting. I currently work in General Ledger Accounting for a well known apparel company. I took the GMAT last summer and made a 690, with a 6 AWA.

I'm primarily looking at TCU, SMU, and Rice. I'm pretty confident that i'll be accepted to each of my target schools, however my question is how much stronger of a candidate would I be if i waited to apply for Fall of 2011? Do you think an extra year of work experience would make much of a difference in terms of possible scholarship opportunites?

If over the next year you will gain more responsibility (maybe even a promotion) then yes it will make you more competitive -- not only for b-school admissions but also for the post-MBA job market. Keep in mind that MBA employers value work experience as much as the MBA degree itself.
