Could someone tell me if it is common to have 4 Long Passages on the GMAT Verbal ?

I don't think so. As far as I know , each test-taker will have atleast one short passage. Generally, it is 2 short/average length passages and 2 long ones.
This is what I know of ,there are mant GMAT gurus here on this forum and let's wait for their replies :)

I actually took a CAT from MGMAT today and got 4 long passages and i was wondering wether this was "gmat-like".

I don't think it is GMAT-like..may be you were doing very well on the verbal section and the test decided to show 4 long passages to you :) ? Try posting your question in the MGMAT forum, the instructors there will respond to your question.
Infact, just to let you know, I never found the Verbal section of MGMAT CATs representative of the GMAT - scoring or GMAT-style questions. Ofcourse, this is my opinion and experience.
