OK... I got a 620. Frankly, it's not worth posting how much I studied because everyone learns differently and goes at a different pace (Q 41 and V 34).
First my question: Do I have a shot at getting into Stern NYU Part Time program?
As for the test I thought is was straight forward. I felt I was bombing the Quant section badly and was thinking of leaving the test. The questions were nothing I hadn't seen before on this board, OG, and other online places... fact is, they are hard and I wasn't fully prepared.
I thought the verbal was a breeze.. nothing even slightly unexpected. Does my V34 score reflect that? Nope.
Anyway that's my story....
Oh, last thing the scratch boards and markers they give suck... I'm left handed and at the end of the test my entire hand was black, the desk was black... it was a mess... For long calculations forget about it... everything is smudged. It cost me a lot of time and rattled me quite a bit.
If I take the exam again I'm going to see what I can do about using paper. It's just insane that something so important to the test taker would be left to chance. It's an obvious problem that can be easily corrected...
Seriously... NYU. What do you think. I have a 3.4 from a good NYC school, 5 years work in sales/marketing/business/.. I'm a white a male New Yorker.

funny...I just took my exam a week ago. Got a 660, felt the same way as you, and am also hoping to get into Stern Part time. Also WM NYer. Had a 3.5 though...
Heard the Spring semester is 50% acceptance rate with an average of 650 GMAT. Due date is 9/15, so you have to hustle...
Good luck

microjohn - Where did you hear about 50% accptance rate in Stern for spring and also about average GMAT score?
Do you see any drawbacks in Spring term compared to Fall?

I went to a couple of admissions seminars. They don't say that they'll admit 50%, but last year ~500 applied for the spring, and ~250 got in. And they give a range of 610-700 for the top 80%, with the mean being 650.
I don't see a problem entering in the spring. If you're not full time, who cares? They break you into "core groups" in spring and fall the same way.
