GMAT 660 - Profile evaluation requested [#permalink] New post 03 Nov 2011, 11:05
Hello,

Please evaluate my profile.I took the GMAT last week and scored a 660 (Q49, V31). AWA 5.5

Profile : Male 30Y from the competitive India IT pool.

Bachelors in Computers(India) : 72%
Masters in Computers(Germany)
International work experience: 5.5 years(2 years in-house, 3.5 years consulting)
Areas of work : Financial Management, Telecommunication, Logistics
Extra co-curricular : Limited, except for a stint at an educational organization.

I intend to apply to the ISB and other schools in the top-20 of the rankings.
Do I have to retake the GMAT(and sacrifice time reserved for my application)?

Thank you

gmatjanred,

Your GMAT score is a little below par, but it is still got enough for you to take a shot with. With just about 26 days left for the ISB app to close in R2 this year, you will not have time to take the GMAT again. I have seen plenty of applicants this year apply with similar scores (and lower ones!), banking on other parameters in their profile, and they have got through to the interview stage as well, which means you are certainly good to go.

I would say your international work experience, combined with the fact that you already have a masters degree, will help you a lot.

Next steps - make sure you create an excellent application. The IT pool is very competitive for ISB admissions, so the rub will come down to how well you structure your essays. Make sure you include all aspects that ISB looks for. Some of these will be your overall profile, your international work experience, and your masters degree.

Will agree with the above poster, you do not have enough time to retake the GMAT. You do seem to have a good exposure that goes beyond the traditional IT profile. Spend some time on your essays, justify your goals and why you are applying to the specific school. Good Luck!
