GMAT format change [#permalink] New post 30 Mar 2011, 18:07
I read that GMAT format is going to change in 2012 with part of the Analytical Writing section being replaced by a new "Integrated Reaonsing" section. I am planning to give my test in 2012.

Is there any material available on how to prepare, sample questions, guides etc?

Or Should i give the testin 2011 itself?

From what I read here,

Quote:
This new section of the exam is designed to test advanced reasoning skills and is separately scored from the total 800 score of verbal and quantitative sections.

and

Quote:
The new section will replace one of the two writing sections currently on the exam. It will be scored separately and have a new audio component for some questions. The test’s current verbal and math sections will remain unchanged.

It doesn't look that dramatic of a change.
It'd be probably better for us to concentrate on the rest of our applications.
It you really need a hedge, just take it prior June 2012.

The test change is going to be majorly in the area which is not accounted for in your GMAT score of say 700 or 720,so you do not need worry much on this front. Take the exam whenever you are prepared whether it be in 2011 or in 2012.

Hi Team GMAC,

I need help regarding few questions I have on the new GMAT format based scoring.

My situation is that I don't think I would be able to appear for gmat before the format changes.

1. How would the scores for verbal & quant (200-800) be affected by this change of new format?
2. How much does the independent score of new Integrated Reasoning matters in the over GMAT score?
3. When can we expect to get online books/materials/coaching available for preparation for the new IR section in the market?

Thanks so much,
Arin
