GMAT-prep practice questions [#permalink] New post 03 Jan 2013, 10:26
Hi,

I recently bought complete GMAT-prep questions (404) from GMAC. I have almost finished both sentence correction and quant. The easy and medium level questions of quant in GMAT-prep are fine and not much difficult, but the hard level questions are really hard. I attempted 44 questions in problem solving, and i got half of them correct.

Anyone has any idea about the level of those hard questions. I mean to say, " are those questions above 700 level ? "

Looking forward to your replies.

Thanks & Regards
Vinni

Probably... those would be the 700-level ones.
I am not sure if that helps since we still can't quite tell what you would get based on that, but yes is the answer :-)

Yes, they are definitely 700+ level. It is hard to interpret what it means to get half of the Hard questions right. In the real GMAT exam, you will get questions of varying difficulty, even someone who scores the highest possible score perhaps only gets 15 or so of the 700+ level questions. Part of this is because 9 out of 37 quant questions are experimental, and they are likely(my guess) of all difficulty levels. But in spite of that the algorithm does throw questions with a range of difficulty for statistical purposes, although the weighted average difficulty would be higher the higher your score is.

Cheers,
Dabral

Thank you for your replies.

Dabral,

If all of the 9 experimental questions are wrong, would the score be effected ?

I don't think so. But obviously, it is a moot point - you can never tell which one is which. You will have to give your best shot on every one.

On the OP - yes those are 700+. I'd suggest you compare your performance on the last 25 questions in the OG with this performance.

and Dabral is right, can't judge much on the half wrong statistic. I'd still go ahead (make a fool of myself) and say its a decent attempt. You should be looking at late 40's (possibly a 50) with that performance.

Hi Dabral ,

How many experimental questions is one likely to get on the verbal section of the actual GMAT?
