gmat prep software [#permalink]

I'm puzzled. I got 24 questions right out of 37 (quant section) on the GMAC prep sofware and that gave me a scaled score of 47. I've tryed one of knewton's cat and the same 24 questions right got me just 39. How can this be? Are they accurate?

Welcome to GMAT Club. It is not really about how many questions you got right but how many hard questions you got right. There is no correlation between number of mistakes and the score since the test is adaptive. Also about a third of the questions are experimental and thus don't count/impact your score.

BB, you are absolutely right but I have one quick question. Do these experimental questions count towards level determination?
Suppose there are 13 experimental questions and in the test you have 10 incorrect answers and all are experimental questions intersperse throughout. Can you score Q51 just because all wrong questions were experimental? Even Q50 with 10 incorrect is not bad. If these exp questions are playing such role then, isnt it a sheer matter of luck by getting only exp questions wrong.

Yup, BB is spot on. Scores can differ based on difficulty of questions, plus there are those darned experimental questions. Our test are very accurate. Thanks for the inquiry.

Yesterday, I retook the GMATPrep and got 50 in maths, though 1 incorrect in first 19 while 9 in next 18 (evenly spread). gurpreet, I think you judged correctly.
