Has anyone ever heard of someone being admitted to Tuck with a 57% quant score (650 overall). I am applying to Tuck EA, had a great interview and have clearly demonstrated my excitement for and commitment to the school (very important to Tuck). Further, I believe I have written very good essays, work in a quant heavy job (strong recs focusing on quant nature of job) and have a lot of quant course work with great grades including As in calculus (state school though). Any thoughts? Thanks!
A 57% quant score could hurt you. While I am do know that 650 overalls are admitted to Tuck, and probably someone with a 57% quant could be admitted and probably even has been admitted, I am more concerned about the 57% Q than the 650 overall.
It's hard to say. Given that you have the other evidence of quant ability and you are taking the right steps to mitigate the quant score, you're app is not automatically doomed. I am assuming that you don't have the time (or desire) to retake the GMAT. The best way to mitigate that score is to improve it.
If you don't retake, then you just have to see how the deck falls out. Perhaps they will be so wowed by your other qualifications, they they will say the other stuff outweights the GMAT. It could happen. But the rest of your app has to overcome that quant score.
Good luck!
