We have added Google Site search - upper right hand corner.

It is supposed to be quicker and more user-friendly than the native Forum Search. It also allows to search using any number of characters compared to the forum search that requires at least 3. Google search also has a more familiar interface that we are all used to.

On the downside, it is not as accurate as the forum search - it does not include the latest pages (there is a 1-2 days delay in indexing content) and it also does not include some of the older content. We expect its accuracy to increase with time, but if you are looking for something very specific, i would recommend using the Advanced Forum Search.

Love the Google search, even if it isn't accurate as you've mentioned.
I know that adding Google custom search is extra cost to monthly operational expense.

Thanks for doing various things to improve the site!

Thanks for the encouragement.

This is actually the free version of Google's custom search, so that means they display ads and don't provide any guarantees about indexing content or how frequently they do it (usually at least once a day).

However, the speed alone is worth it.

P.S. I believe in 2006 we had a version of Google search implemented, but it did not really take off. A number of members complained about inaccuracy, so we took it off, but we implemented a number of SEO enhancements, so I am hoping the search will be more effective this time. Let's see.
